Hong Kong rocks!
I must say I always had my reservations about Hong Kong, China, Japan and Korea. These are some of the places which never appealed to me all that much in terms of being travel worthy.Chalk it to my indifference toward that region, (I know I'm terrible but hey I'm admitting to it!) and too many Cantonese serial viewing while I was younger and all those Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee movies definitely did not make it anymore appealing!
So anyhow, I must say Hong Kong at least was a pleasant surprise eventhough I was only there for such a short period of time. It's vibrancy was almost palpable and I was pleasantly surprised how cosmopolitan it really was!It is also quite compact when you really look at it but somehow the city of Hong Kong is just so dynamic.
I have to agree with my some of my friends who think it's got the best skyline ever on a clear night. It even beats New York City!
The ferry rides to and from Kowloon to Central Hong Kong was reminiscent of all those childhood ferry rides in my hometown Penang.
Too bad about the pollution that is clogging up the city though....wish they'd do something about it as the visit to The Peak would have definitely been worth it if there wasn't so much of smog causing poor visibility.
Still gotta say the best part of the trip was soaking in a whirlpool with steaming water outdoors while the weather was windy and chilly, atop a hotel facing the Hong Kong city skyline......was absolutely GORGEOUS!Never felt so relaxed and content ever!
Well, I must say I am looking forward to going again to Hong Kong and maybe I shall venture out to mainland China too and check it out....it might hold some pleasant surprises too.....another vast world for me to explore and see.......
