PENANG ISLAND
I wonder how many people who are non Malaysians have ever visited this wonderful island.
I was born here at a missionary hospital called the adventist.....apparently the doctor who helped deliver me had also delivered more than 35000 babies in her lifetime and she wasn't even an obstetrician!
In any case....Penang has undergone a lot of changes since it was discovered by the British in 1786.It has developed rapidly but has preserved its charm. It's not called ' The Pearl of the Orient' for nothing!
No matter which part of the world I live in....'home' to me shall always be here.....
Some of the wonderful things in Penang are:
-The botanical gardens......remember playing in the streams there as a kid! These days whenever i'm there for a visit i never miss to go for an early morning jog there.
-'hawker' food!!!One has to truly experience it to appreciate it!You can't find food anywhere else in the world to even compare.....'laksa','mee jawa','pasembur','rojak','bean curd'-yummy!
-the ferry......those yellow/orange floatings carrying hundreds if not thousands of people to and fro the mainland.
-Convent Light Street.....How can one ever forget their roots?!I still remember Sister Luke, the huge ancient primary school bell, my grade 1 teacher Mrs. Tan, the huge school ground at the back with the occasional 'flasher' lurking in the background, the beach, the old 'prison' cum classrooms with names written in blood/etched on the walls.........
-Penang Hill.....I never used to like this place that much cause as a kid we'd only come here whenever some relatives/friends were here for a visit from abroad...hated the furnicular train that would take at least 30 mins to get to the top!Not to mention sweating it out in the heat till we reached the cooler atmoshere at the top.But now I've come to realize it's uniqueness and shall never forget the many 'bungalow' stays we've had there.
-Batu Ferringhi......used to be the best beach ever but unfortunately development of the island has taken its toll on the beaches

Best party ever-GOA rave 2000
________________________________________________________
There are no party flyers in Goa. In the original state of the Raving Society, a bush-drum works fine. So newcomers fear that they'll miss something. No wonder the illegal parties are hard to find. But no fear ! Simply follow the stream of the bikers.
The week starts on Wednesday on the market in Anjuna. There you can buy batik-clothing, chillums and DJ-mix-tapes. Trance-Rhythms are flying through the air. At the evening everyone is viewing the diving sun. The night is coming on. Black-Lights let everything white glow. The beats start to go harder. Everybody goes into the PrimRose in Vagator to power-up and to get to the party-location of the evening. Often parties take place in Vagator: at the Spaghetti-Beach or the Tel Aviv-Beach or in the Disco-Valley. Or you can visit the Paradizo, a Trancefortress in Anjuna. The peak and the end is the sunrise. Some people go to the sea for a swim. The party-people use the day to chill for the next night.
So...be a bum for a little while every year, and party hard in Goa !!
